Biography
Originally from Tehran, Iran, I have studied mechanical engineering as my B.Sc. at IAU science and research branch in Tehran. Graduated as a top student, I was honored with a direct admission to AUT to start studying Mechatronics as my M.Sc.
During my M.Sc. studies, I selected “Structural Health Monitoring of oil and gas Pipelines” as the theme of my research, which introduced me to the world of IoT and Machine Learning. Thereafter, I decided to deepen my knowledge in this field and that is when I chose to start a PhD in the field of Industry 4.0 and Advanced Manufacturing at UBC. Here, I collaborated with both research groups at Composites Research Network (CRN) and Data Analytics and Intelligent Systems (DAIS) Labs under co-supervision of Dr. Abbas Milani and Dr. Bhushan Gopaluni.
Progressing on my Ph.D. project, I developed Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR) Models of a Thermoforming Process. I won the SILVER student design award for “An Interactive Digital Twin of a Composite Manufacturing Process for Training Operators via Immersive Technology” at HCI International Conference 2023.
